Joker Casino chips

  • #1

Hello friends,

I’m completely new to this world of poker chips. Coming from cheap heavy dice-chips this is surely an eye-opener. My poker-fire has been re-ignited and surely I will play better poker with nicer chips. ;)
The thing is: I live in Denmark, Europe and it is a pain to get china-clays here and I’m on a tight budget so ordering clays from apache or CPC is not an option.. I am competely dependent on availability within Denmark. I know the Joker Casinos are not CCs but they are light at around 9g a chip and they don’t feel super plasticy. I noticed the label of one of the chips was different. It is rough and the others are smooth. Do anyone of you know if there is a difference and what the difference is? I don’t know if I’m mistaken, but it feels like the rough one is a tiny bit heavier than the smooth ones. Are there any Joker Casino “experts”in here or anyone who has a set that will tell me their opinion about these chips?

The labels are vinyl with a textured clear plastic laminate. Possible that the laminate has fallen off, making that chip’s label appear ‘smooth’.

Or perhaps the manufacturer screwed up and made some chips with textured laminates and others with smooth laminates.

  • #5

They are (reportedly) very similar, i.e. similar material and construction. I haven’t confirmed this for myself; I don’t have any Joker Casinos to put my hands on.

One more thing, you can find the Majestics (China Clay) from pokershop.de, but they are pricey than in the US: 0,69 €/chip vs 0,35 €/chip through Apache Poker Chips

#openastoreovertherealready.

Hilarious that cheap chips have to be imported/exported like four-five times to reach customers. Pay like $0.02 to produce and then $100 to ship it around. That’s some 2020 shit, dumb as hell right there.

Very decent tip. Apache’s a very solid source, but customs and transport can really bend you over the f*cking desk (this is just transatlantic transport bs, nothing Apache can do about it).

Pokershop.de is where I got my set of Majestics, owner is on the forums as well, good guy, very good customer care.

I think that this is the only European supplier that sells the Majestics, i’d love to get a sample set of those, but the shipping would cost me more than the chips :(
I’m currently looking to buy a tourney set and those CC are so beautiful at my eyes, i need to get them >:)

  • #11

Thanks for all the replies! Yeah shipping and customs really leave you gaping over the counter (so sorry for this picture). Worst part is that even though the shop is i Germany, right next to denmark, shipping is still measured by weight and a 1000ct set comes in quite heavy. So that will also double the price. It makes No sense to buy abroad. I hate it. Because i really like the feel of CCs. I ordered samples of 12 star clays and they feel so nice but QC is really bad. So I have gone away from the idea of having a fake paulson classic set. Please for the love of god make shipping cheaper within Europe!!!

Within Europe, it should be fairly decent? Just checked my order confirmation from pokershop.de: I ordered 400 chips, 4 racks and a poker mat (about €350 worth of stuff in total). GLS Parcel Service was another €10.99.

The shop is in Austria btw. Not super relevant, but just fyi :)

Yes, you’re right, but paying 0.70 €/chip here in Europe vs 0.35 for the same chip in America it’s a little too much, with the same budget you get half the chips

I can get a 500-chip cash set to Europe for about 320 euro, including shipping, but before taxes/duties. a 600-chip set with fracs brings the total to about 410 euro. And way better quality, in my opinion, than any CC.

I looked into the majestics on pokershop.de but I can’t afford it though. But shipping isn’t that bad actually. When I go full chipaholic I know where to upgrade. I just ordered a 500ct set of the Casino Jokers. The danish shop just got a new batch in with the rough texture. That was my cue. If anyone want to see pictures in a couple of days when I get them, I can post and let you know what I think about them, though my opinion as a newb May not be of much value. Thanks for all the replies! Exciting times!

I am buying them here pokershop.dk. They have sets at very decent prices.

  • #18

I habe just bought a 1000 peace Royal CC set. I will post in the Classfield in ~3 weeks a ~500 Royal CC set for the same price I paid ~0.4€ per Chip. Shiiping from Germany.

Stay tuned.

I will also sell a 500 peace Desert Palms injected molded (plastic) set.

  • #19

I have around 50 Joker Chips and i can not tell any difference to the Desert Palms. Both chips mimic visualy in a good way Paulson Chips. Feeling Stacking is totaly different in a bad way.

Velkommen @Jabinator. Unfortunately importing chips from the US is prohibitive to many. I wish I could go back when pokershop.dk had Paulsons at around 10 DKK a piece (~$1.50) which was a fair deal comparing to what it cost to import yourself.

I’m currently moving and my chips are not in reach atm. But as soon as I have unpacked them I’ll show you. BUT, I can already say that the QC on these are trash. Offset stickers on almost 50% of the chips. Looking forward to re-align 500 labels so they don’t wobble when stacked.. I will post pictures later this week!

Finally got some time to take some pictures for you. My apartment is a mess but got some space cleared for the photos! So here is my opinion on Casino Joker:
When I unwrapped them they were smothered in mold-grease – a thorough clean with some mild soap water did the trick. Next thing i noticed was a handfull of the labels were waaay off center (No photos of this). The labels was sometimes off by a couple of millimeters. The small handful became around 50% of the set…. Peeled the labels off and reattached them in center. It was really easy but time consuming. Now the set is clean of grease and off-center labels. I guess you can’t expect more from a “cheap” chip, but I dont know, im not an expert.

They feel real nice but to be honest…. It’s my first set and I wanted something a bit more exclusive than the super cheap non-denom chips and I am pretty dissapointed in these. The quality control lacks alot. They shuffle easily but tend to get wobbly when in stacks of 15 – this kinda sucks. I tried to avoid the metal inlay chips because of the weight and sound of them. These sound more like clay chips but these are Not clay chips! No matter what you read on the shop pages these are maybe 95% ABS and 5% clay. They feel like plastic but sound okay and that cheats my brain to think of them as kinda exclusive, but I know they are bad. So i regret i bought them and should’ve saved money for Milanos.

That was my mouth diarrhea and I hope it made sense. It’s been a long day. I have attached some pictures and the photo of the set with missing chips is the remaining centered labels.. Add 75% of the white 500’s to the bad pile..

Enough.

TL;DR: greasy, off-centered labels on 50% of set, bad QC, sounds nice, shuffles great, tricks brain to think they are higher quality, don’t buy.

Thank you so much @Jabinator for the review and the photos! They look so beautiful in the stack, unfortunately the QC as you said Is $hit :(
I’m probably gonna buy a sample set of 25 from an italian site just to see if they’re better. Btw you can buy majestics or milanos (china clays) on pokershop.de if you’re interested in them.
Good luck and thanks again!
